1. Scope and operator
This policy applies to focusbrowser.app, the Focus Browser desktop application, and messages sent to support. These resources are operated by BDV. Where BDV determines why and how personal data is processed, BDV acts as the controller or operator under applicable law.
This policy does not govern websites, search engines, extensions, or other third-party services that you open or connect through the browser. Their own terms and privacy notices apply.
2. Data stored locally
Like other browsers, Focus Browser may store history, bookmarks, preferences, shortcuts, cookies and site data, autofill information, saved credentials, and other profile content on your device. FocusBlock, FocusYoutube, motion, and onboarding preferences are also stored in the local profile.
BDV does not receive the contents of your local profile by default. Local import reads selected information from a supported profile on your computer and moves it into Focus Browser without sending it to BDV. You can manage local data through browser settings and operating-system tools.
3. Information BDV may receive
The information involved depends on how you interact with us. The current website does not create user accounts, include advertising analytics, or use personal data for behavioral advertising.
- Support communications: your email address, message, attachments, and any information you choose to provide.
- Technical requests: hosting and security infrastructure may automatically process an IP address, browser and device type, requested URL, request time, and diagnostic events needed to deliver and protect the site.
- Website language preference: the language you select is stored locally in your browser so the site can use it on your next visit.
- Update and download information: when checking a version or downloading a file, the relevant server receives ordinary technical request data.
4. Network requests and third parties
Focus Browser is a full web browser. When you open a website, requests are sent to that website and its connected resources. Your selected search engine receives search queries; update, extension installation, safe-browsing, media-component, and filter-list services may receive standard connection data when the relevant feature is used or enabled.
FocusBlock evaluates bundled rules and user preferences locally; external list updates, when enabled, require a request to their sources. FocusYoutube stores its switches in the local profile. A query entered in the demonstration search field on this website goes directly to the selected search provider in a new tab—BDV does not receive the query text.
5. Purposes and legal bases
BDV processes information available to it to deliver and secure the site and updates, respond to requests, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, comply with law, and protect users and BDV.
Where a legal basis is required, it may be performance of a contract or steps you request, legitimate interests in operating a safe and reliable product, your consent, or compliance with a legal obligation. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis.
7. Retention
Local browser data remains on your device until you remove the data or profile. BDV keeps support communications and related records only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain security, resolve disputes, and meet mandatory obligations. Infrastructure logs are retained for a limited period based on their purpose and the relevant provider's rules.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the data available to BDV. No operating system, network transmission, or software can guarantee absolute security. Install updates, protect your Windows account, and never post a real profile, cookies, passwords, tokens, or unsanitized crash dumps in a public report.
9. International processing
Focus Browser is available globally, and infrastructure providers may process information in multiple countries. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, BDV uses available lawful mechanisms and requires proportionate protections from providers.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to information, access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and a complaint to a competent authority. Legal exceptions may apply to individual rights.
To make a request, email contact@focusbrowser.app. We may ask for reasonable verification of identity and an agent's authority. BDV cannot access your local profile data, so you can delete or export that information directly through the browser or your device's file system.
11. Children
Focus Browser and this site are general-audience services and are not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age set by local law. BDV does not knowingly request personal information from such children. A parent or guardian may contact us if they believe a child has provided information to BDV.
12. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the product, infrastructure, or law changes. A revised policy will be posted here with a new date, and we will try to provide a prominent notice for material changes.
For privacy questions, contact BDV at contact@focusbrowser.app.
